Printing and Toner
Each year, approximately 15 million pages are printed on campus printers – that’s a lot of paper! In an effort to enhance sustainability and security we strongly encourage staff, faculty, and students to rely on other avenues, such as Microsoft OneDrive, Canvas or SharePoint, to distribute information to students and colleagues.
Campus Provided multi-function printers
Most faculty and staff have access to at least one of the over two hundred large multi-function printing devices found on campus. These Ricoh and Lexmark devices, have numerous options and capabilities to meet the printing needs of everyone on campus. Our fleet provides you with the following options:
- Secure print
- Print release
- Photocopying
- Scanning
- Colour printing
- Duplex printing
Printing to these managed and supported devices is the best choice when it comes to security, price, sustainability, and support. To arrange for individualized training and assistance using these devices please email itsupport@usask.ca.
NOTE: USask IT Requisitions will no longer be selling printers or toner
ICT Support Services, ICT Security Services and Usask Sustainability want to reduce the number of small unsecured, expensive, inefficient and environmentally wasteful small office printers found on campus.
To assist with this goal we have decided to:
- Stop selling small local printers,
- Stop selling toner for these devices, and
- Stop reimbursements for all printers bought at off campus locations.
I still need a printer in my office
If there is a business need for a personal in-office printer (anyone who does not have access to a large multi-function device or has a specific business need for a desktop printer), we have developed an exception process that will provide a printer that is fully managed and secure, with automatic toner replacement and support provided. To request an office printer using this new process please complete and submit this form.
How do I buy toner for my existing office printer?
Usask IT Requisitions no longer sells printer toner.
To order toner for your local office printer, provide your local administrative assistant with the details of what you require and request that they order from HBI or the new Usask Amazon for business account on your behalf .
How do I surplus my old printers and toner
Email itsupport@usask.ca and one of our technicians will assist with the disconnect and removal of your device and any extra toner you may have.
